Office Pools - Against the Spread

Office Pools for NFL Football & Other Sports

A sports office pool can be a good morale and productivity booster. It gets people interacting with each other in friendly competition. Participants have something in common to talk about and get to know each other a little better. Friendly cooperative employees are productive employees.

In this article, and some follow-up articles, I will be discussing a few office pools that can be tailored to almost any sport, but that are particularly well suited to NFL football.

Point Spread Office Pool

This is an office pool to see who is the best at picking game winners taking into account the point spread for the game.

Each week of the season, the games for that week are listed on a sheet of paper with the point spread for each game. The pool participants are given a copy upon which they indicate the team they think will win, taking into account the point spread. In other words, which team will beat the spread.

Particpants get one point for every game they pick correctly. So, if seven out of fifteen games were picked correctly, the particpant gets seven points.

This process continues for the entire season. The particpant with the most points at the end of the season wins the pool. You can also have prizes for the top winner for each individual week.

In the next article, I will discuss a variation of this office pool that incorporates confidence levels.
